Let’s grow together! From little acorns….

As part of our commitment to become a greener library we’ve recently been thinking of practical ideas to make our library service more sustainable and to help promote sustainability within our Trust. These are two of our new initiatives, where colleagues, library users and a book supplier have supported us, and we’re already planning more, including permanent displays in our libraries to chart our ‘green’ progress. Our Dynamed journey: Highest Dynamed usage within NHS England Knowledge and Library Services

We couldn’t afford UpToDate’s price increase but due to its popularity we knew we would have complaints in stopping the service. The only option left was to demonstrate by comparison the features in UpToDate vs Dynamed. After reading a few articles, comparing costs, collections, and features we prepared a document to go with our survey. We showed that Dynamed not only had more resources, cost less but also had more features.…

Anatomy TV Promotion at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals

Last year we acquired a new resource called Anatomy TV. We wanted to raise awareness of this new resource and encourage usage so we devised a marketing plan to help us do this. We decided to focus on what the user could achieve by using this resource, rather than just simply telling them they have access to it. The message we wanted to convey was “Improve your knowledge of anatomy”. We thought this would appeal to staff wanting to update their existing knowledge and also to students needing to learn anatomy for their studies.…

Public Health Resource Centre - Yearly update

In October 2019, Andy Moore joined the team from Leeds Public Libraries. His new role is a two year post as Digital Projects Officer and he will be working on three projects: to create digital content that share key public health messages with workforce; to update the PHRC website; and to make improvements to the PHRC’s library management system. In December, Sally Hughes started as our Health Improvement Resource Assistant. Sally arrives from Leeds Public Libraries and her roles in the PHRC are dealing with customer enquiries, issuing stock, compiling leaflet & poster orders, promoting campaigns and running our Instagram account and then of course there will be lots of project work that will come up to get stuck into.…
