As part of our commitment to become a greener library we’ve recently been thinking of practical ideas to make our library service more sustainable and to help promote sustainability within our Trust. These are two of our new initiatives, where colleagues, library users and a book supplier have supported us, and we’re already planning more, including permanent displays in our libraries to chart our ‘green’ progress. We couldn’t afford UpToDate’s price increase but due to its popularity we knew we would have complaints in stopping the service. The only option left was to demonstrate by comparison the features in UpToDate vs Dynamed. After reading a few articles, comparing costs, collections, and features we prepared a document to go with our survey. We showed that Dynamed not only had more resources, cost less but also had more features.…
We have a new venture we’re undertaking within Doncaster & Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals, aimed at engagement with staff who are at a very early stage of research interest, which we have identified as “research curious”. The Trust’s research department understandably have put a lot of effort into engaging with staff who are already research active. As a member of the Trust’s Clinical Academic Research Steering Group I could see there were stages before research active, since before research active you have to be research interested, and before interested comes research curious.
